Martin Sonka is cleared into the track and after the disappointment of the ruling earlier about a DQ from Ascot, the Czech pilot is aiming for the win as his hopes of making the third step of the podium have been dashed...
It's clean flying from Sonka and he records 51.737 on the timesheet for his first run
Sonka's second run now and he manages to shave off a decent amount of time... it's 51.179 and that moves him into 3rd place
Yoshi Muroya now... and he's also fighting for that final step on the podium alongside Dolderer and Hall
But those split times are in the red and then the judges call a track deviation! Bad news Yoshi :(
Second run and a chance to right those wrongs...
Much better and it's clean all the way, but not fast enough to knock McLeod off the top spot – 49.384 for Muroya puts him in second place
Ivanoff into the hot Las Vegas track now and the sun is really heating things up! The wind seems OK out there and that track is running fast...
Ivanoff – another one aiming for that WC podium – flies clean and it's a strong run but not up to McLeod or Muroya's pace... it's 50.605 and he can't catch Goulian either
He's flying consistently out there and his second run is 50.891 – leaving him firmly in 4th place for the moment
Just Lamb and Dolderer left to fly this session as Hall is not racing...
So Lamb has a lot to play for here in Las Vegas... the final race of his career and the potential to be on the WC podium once more
The British pilot heads into the track...
And he's in the green at the first split time by just 0.003s!
But it's fallen into the red now and he's got work to do to catch McLeod...
He's +1.310 off the pace but it's a solid 50.585 and he's in fourth with another chance to improve
And Lamb is back into the track but that first split time is now in the red... and he'll struggle to regain those all important hundreths of a second...
It's no good, he'll have to settle for 50.563 – so at least he's flying consistent times out there
Lamb stays in fourth – McLeod / Muroya / Goulian make up the top three with just Dolderer to fly
And our main man... the 2016 World Champion is out onto the track next
That's red for Dolderer! And incorrect level at Gate 4!
Dolderer's first run is 51.359 but that includes 2s of penalties... so let's not write him off yet!
And there it is! He's cleaned that right up and that's what we expect from Dolderer the Dominator! It's a clean and effortless rise to the top with 48.369!
He's +0.906 clear of McLeod and that is amazing! He's only 0.044s off his own personal best and track record!
Will he smash that this weekend... we'd say that could be on the cards ;)
We'll have full results on the website later today but in the meantime, here are the official results from FP1:
Let's take a look at the racetrack at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway – there have been no changes to the track since we first arrived here in 2014 so for the pilots who have flown it before, they should have this one dialled
Dolderer holds the track record of 48.325s in 2015 during his Round of 14 run against Juan Velarde...
Free Practice 2 is now starting!
Quick reminder that it was Dolderer at the top of the timesheet in FP1, followed by McLeod and Muroya
First up is Chilean pilot Cristian Bolton... he's just moved up from the Challenger Class for the final two rounds of 2016 and is using the track time to learn as much as he can before the season end
In the earlier FP1 round, it was Gate 7 that caused problems for Bolton in his faster of two runs
He's back into the track and this time he seems to have worked out a better approach and posts a 52.344 which is 3s less
