So our first Brit V Brit tomorrow! Defending World Champion vs 2010 World Champion
Bonhomme takes Quali in Abu Dhabi with 57.178
Six pilots pick up penalties today in Qualifying and a DSQ result for Nigel Lamb. Bonhomme, Hall and Muroya take the top three Qualifying spots
Bonhomme: A good start to the weekend but there's an awfully long way to go. The conditions change all the time. There's no point getting too excited... the last time I qualified first I came fifth. The conditions change all the time... the winners are the ones who take note and don't have a set plan.
Bonhomme: There's no secret that I'm not a big fan but I'll just have to try to beat Nigel in the head to head. There are no points for Qualifying... yes it bodes well, but it doesn't mean anything. We have a lot of work to do ahead of tomorrow.
Matt Hall: After the last flight I had to do something to re-baseline myself... the plan was to go out and fly a safe line. The plan was 0 penalties. The winglets are going well... it seems like it's carrying more energy in the track... we'll stick with them for the race.
Thanks for watching! Lots more coming to you from our race reporters here on the live blog
More from Bonhomme at the race airport:Today was perfect conditions for racing. I thought training was ok as well. The raceplane is running beautifully. So we’ll be back tomorrow to see what happens...
Matt Hall comments from the race hangar:I feel great, it was the exact line I wanted to fly. I had the plan in my head and it worked well. I’m still going to have to watch out tomorrow though.
