Arch into the track and he's flying tight and fast, he's got to keep it right on the edge or he could be heading home early. We've had so many surprises here already today...
Losing a bit of energy on the second lap but it's the Hannes we know, flying on the edge and a little on the aggressive side. He really means business as he posts a clean run and a good, with great control and a competitive time
Arch has done his time in the track and Goulian will be fighting for that place in the Final 4
Goulian goes higher in the vertical turn and Mikey G is losing a few tenths of a second, but we're waiting for those split times to go green... he's got 0.5s to find in the track and he's tightening up those lines and it's looking close as he goes into the last few Gates.
Goulian pushing hard and he's posting an excellent time, but he can't match Arch's full throttle speed. That's a great performance from the American, and there are points on the board so it's given him something to take forward to Spielberg.
Dolderer goes head to head against Canada's McLeod.
Dolderer incurred a +2s penalty in the R14, and posted 1:02.301, McLeod had a clean run with 1:00.408
Dolderer first up in this heat. around 0.107s between their R14 times. Who's got the edge today?
Great control from Dolderer, and he's taking some great lines through those Air Gates, but the second lap is looking a little too much on the safe side, he'll be desperate not to add time with a penalty but he's got to keep the speed up.
Dolderer maintains his composure and he's finding ways to make up time in the track. McLeod will have his work cut out!
Cockpit celebrations and his signature yodel once again as Dolderer posts a very competitive 58.734
McLeod needs to find a personal best if he wants to grab a place in the Final 4. He will know what he has to do so will we see an aggressive performance from McLeod?
And he's gone TOO aggressive TOO early! Just tensing up too much in that run and he's had the call to knock it off!
McLeod will grab some points here in Abu Dhabi but there's no podium in sight for the Candian.
Ivanoff is a cool contender and he's got some great capability in technical, difficult tracks. We've seen what he's got, having taken a second place in Training earlier this week.
Ivanoff looking really smooth and clean and he's putting some huge pressure on Chambliss to better the American's R14 performance, as Ivanoff almost glides his way through the Abu Dhabi racetrack. It's good, it's clean and most of all, it's FAST. He's posted the fastest R8 time so far!
Smoke on for Kirby Chambliss and he's really got to pull out all the stops in this round if he wants to place in the Final 4.
Entry speed is good and nearly perfect and he's got a GREEN on the splits! 0.225s in the first split but he's losing time on Ivanoff in the second split. The American can go really aggressive when the job needs it, but he's got to find that extra push.
It's a close one! Chambliss pushing HARD all the way to the Finish Gate but Ivanoff has retained the advantage! So close but it's super fast and super competitive today. Hundredths, thousandths of a second count for everything and Chambliss couldn't quite match his French rival's pace.
Two French contenders in the Final 4, Le Vot enjoying his best ever performance in his Master Class career... a real confidence boost for him.
Ivanoff posted the fastest time in the Round of 8 with 58.601, followed by Arch, Dolderer and Le Vot.
