McLeod posted an 8th place in Qualifying after a shaky start in practice... he seems to have found his form yesterday though and we're seeing a similar performance out there in the track today.
Clean and aggressive but smooth, and he's looking fast and confident.
McLeod sets the bar with a clean run, and he's looking energetic and ready for another Abu Dhabi podium place today. Hard to read whether he's happy with that run, but he knows Lamb is a competitive contender and it's just a waiting to game to see if the British pilot can answer his time.
Lamb ready for racing and he goes through the Start Gate on full throttle... but wait! He's under review as we hear the buzzer go just seconds into his run... That's an extra +1s on the clock and he'll have that in the back of his mind as he attacks the racetrack.
A great turn from Lamb there, he's scrubbed off some significant time and gains 0.269s in the third split. A late buzzer again there as he picks up +2s for incorrect level flying at Gate 12.
It looks as though Lamb just had the heat win snatched from his grip.
Podlunsek up first... he finished in 13th in Qualifying but put in a really confident performance in his second run after going off-plan in his first run and picking up penalty after penalty. The Slovenian will know that a cool head is vital today, and will be building on his Run 2 performance from yesterday.
Smoke on for Podlunsek... The Slovenian is looking much cooler out there today compared to his first outing yesterday in the racetrack. He's going high and looking steady, a little too late on the turns and it's +2s on the clock for Gate 5
Still, looking fairly smooth and although it's not a competitive time, it's still a great first Race Day performance in the Master Class for Podlunsek.
A couple of penalties from Dolderer could mean Podlunsek progresses, so Dolderer needs to get through clean and smooth.
Dolderer sounding completely AMPED to race today
We're seeing a much more confident Dolderer this season, and he knows he can make it through the heats if he keeps his cool. A clean start and he's over 2s quicker than Podlunsek. Looking great and he's pushing a little harder as he progresses through the track and loses energy in that second run... but the buzzer goes!
+2s for Gate 12 incorrect level flying... but that doesn't make any difference for this heat. Dolderer advances to the Round of 8.
Dolderer the fastest pilot out there today without the penalty, but penalties count and they can see pilots tumble to the bottom of the timesheets. Dolderer will know that the stakes are raised in the R8 and he'll be going back to check his lines.
A disappointment yesterday for Chambliss as he picked up a DNF for over-G. We've not seen an over-G yet today and Chambliss will want to make amends for yesterday's Qualifying performance.
And Chambliss into the track. He's squeezing his way around the track and looking good, he makes it through the first vertical turn and so far so good. He's keeping those lines tight and fast.
And Chambliss is going smooth and FAST! He's getting faster and Chambliss has really thrown down the gauntlet with the fastest time of the day so far! He knows that Hall is a huge threat and he's got to be on point right from the off.
Hall under pressure right from the State Gate and it's a huge test for Matt Hall in the Round of 14.
And Hall is taking no prisoners! He knows he's got to pull it out and he's chasing Chambliss and scrubbing off time, we're seeing green lights across the board right now.
He pushes hard and NO! There's a pylon hit for Hall! That's a disaster at this stage of the race! Gate 10 sees Hall pick up +3s and he's second in his heat! We didn't see this coming AT ALL!
