Just a short break now as the first three Challenger pilots head back to the airport and swap planes. There are 3 Extra 330LXs shared between the six pilots.
Ryfa up next. The Swedish pilot has a personal best of 1:06.007 here in Abu Dhabi - that's fast enough to push Coleman off the top spot if Ryfa can recreate his Free Practice 1 form.
Let's see what he's got... not long to wait.
Ryfa into the track and he's looking fast, and he's looking determined. Great lines and tight turns, he's got the green light in the first splits and he's not letting newcomer Coleman get a look in!
He finds time in the vertical turn and it's a clean and steady run from the Swedish pilot... he's shaving off time still as he approaches the final gates. A final sprint to the Finish Gate and he's gained over half a second on Coleman!
Ryfa takes the top spot with a speedy 1:06.308
Francis Barros is into the track. The Brazilian is looking a little more confident today after finishing in third in yesterday's Qualifying. He gains ground on Ryfa in the first split but it's back into the red as he loses time in the second and he can't pick up the pace.
But the call to knock it off comes too early! Barros has crossed the safety line and it's an automatic DQ - he'll be disappointed as he was in for a shot at the podium today.
And last but by no means least, it's Luke Czepiela. The Polish pilot took the lead in yesterday's Qualifying and he'll know what he's got to do to regain that top spot.
He cruises into the racetrack but he's off the pace from the top, 0.4s behind Ryfa and he seems to be losing ground as he progresses through, despite a clean and penalty-free performance. Czepiela really struggling to push his plane and find his lines, perhaps Race Day nerves have caught up with him as he loses over 2.8s and slips all the way down to 5th place overall. Not the finish Czepiela was hoping for at all.
Sonka first out in the track. He picked up a DQ yesterday in Qualifying and a penalty in his second run.
Ivanoff has had a bumpy ride in Abu Dhabi so it's all to play for...
A quick but shaky start for Sonka and he's looking a little uncertain...
But he crosses the safety line and it's an automatic DQ for the Czech! Gate 3 is known as the bogey gate and it's catching pilots out... Sonka will be so disappointed with that result as his racing comes to an end for today.
Ivanoff can afford to take it easy now, he's just got to get through the track cleanly and use it as a chance to refine his lines
He's looking calm and holding off... no need to go full throttle in this round and he's under review... we hear the buzzer and it's +2s at Gate 12 for incorrect level flying. He's through to the Round of 8.
Kopfstein finished in 11th yesterday and he's looking impressive, a quick learner and picking up speed in the Master Class. Not to be underestimated.
He's flying comfortably and cleanly. Some great cadence and a solid performance from the Czech. The nerves seem to be in check but he's got a great hold on his plane today.
It's not a fast time, but it's clean and it's a good start.
Muroya relaxed in his first flight of the day, he's already 1.252s up on Kopfstein in the first split
