Lamb looking possibly the most confident of all the pilots today... he's come in with a clean run at 58s and is putting his mark firmly on the Hungarian capital... could this be the weekend Lamb tops the podium again? It's a 58.509, only 0.743 off Velarde's fastest time and another chance to bag a top spot as Lamb goes in for Run 2
Just off the pace a little for that second run but it's still smooth, clean and confident with 58.800... there still could be time to put in another run and take that top spot from Velarde... Lamb into the track for Run 3 but he opts for a Safety Climb Out (SCO) after a pylon hit at Gate 3.
That brings the Masters FP1 to a close, with Velarde, Lamb and Sonka taking the top 3. An early indication of what's to come? Time will tell.

Next flying session:
14:15 Masters Free Practice 2 (all times are local)
Current conditions at the Race Tower:
Air Pressure: 1004.5mbar
Wind Speed/Direction: 9kts/N
OK and Masters Free Practice is on!
Kopfstein into the track for FP2, it's not a great start to this next session as he incurs a DNF for exceeding the start speed limits with 204kts through the Start Gate.
A better time for Kopfstein overall in Run 1 with 58.759 on the clock, but that start speed penalty has given him a DNF. Kopfstein NEEDS to get a time down in this session to give him a boost before Qualifying Day flying sessions tomorrow.
Run 2 and it's a slower time overall but crucially that's a clean run from Kopfstein, with 1:00.092 on the clock. A slower and more conservative start but the split times are looking better and more encouraging. Something to build on for tomorrow's flying sessions, for sure.
Run 3 and Kopstein squeezes in one more flying session - that's a good time of 58.820 but he's picked up +4s in incorrect level flying penalties... so it's a complete time of 1:02.820 leaving Kopfstein with a best Run time from Run 2 - 1:00.092
Velarde up next: he's straight into the track and it's a clean sweep for Run 1 with 58.114 - slower than this morning's 57.766 but looking at the wind speed we're seeing a significant change with blustery conditions of up to 21kts... Velarde scrubs his second run with a safety climb out (SCO)
Velarde through Gate 7, 8, and 9 cleanly and those split times are in the red by just 0.026s
The second and third splits are now in the green and he's looking on course to take another quick finish in this flying session, but he's really lost some time out there through Gates 18 and 19... a sprint to the finish and that's a 58.423 for Run 3 so Velarde's Run 1 time still stands firm
Next up, it's Mikey G.
Goulian placed 6th overall in Free Practice 1 earlier today; let's see if he can inch closer to that 2009 Budapest success in FP2.
58.144 is the target set by Velarde... Goulian off the pace by 0.681 in the second split as he passes through Gate 13...
Goulian clawing back time on the splits but he's really pushed out of contention in that last split, losing almost a second off Velarde's top time and finishing with an extra +2s on the clock with a penalty at Gate 18 and 1:01.095 on the clock. Without the penalty, Goulian would be looking at a second place overall but he's got to make it error free to put in a competitive time.
Still, that's what today is about; refining those lines and tuning up the performance. Run 2 - let's go.
And Goulian flies an error-free run, really stepping it up, with 58.954... still 0.810s off Velarde's pace but good, significant progress.
Time for a third Run for Goulian, he's really stepping up the pace with 57.407s but a technical error with insufficient smoke adds +1s and hes got to sit tight behind Velarde with 58.407
Francois Le Vot up next; he's been working on new mods on his raceplane but we're yet to see any great leaps in his performance so far. Let's hope Le Vot can improve on his 11th place finish in FP1...
Run 1 for FP2 under his belt and Le Vot is way off the pace, +5.711s behind Velarde's time and no penalties in play for Run 1. 1:03.855... looks like he's really losing his pace in that final split time and lagging towards the Finish Gate.
Run 2 and still no significant improvement for Le Vot... he picks up +2s at Gate 19 and that's 1:04.356 on the clock.
Le Vot back in for Run 3 and the first splits looking much more promising... he's through cleanly again and a little more confidence in this run, but it's still just under 5s off Velarde's pace, but Le Vot going a good 800ths of a second faster this time around... 1:03.022 as his fastest time in this session, and so far today.
Canada's Pete McLeod preparing for his Free Practice 2 session.
McLeod placed 10th overall in FP1 with 1:04.091, with +6s penalties under his belt. Let's see if he's managed to refine those lines and if he can put in a clean, smooth run in FP2.
The wind looks to have dropped off in the last few minutes, still blustering but wind speed is sitting around the 11kts mark from a northerly direction.
It's a similar story through, McLeod is picking up those penalties left, right and centre as he cruises through Gates 6, 7 and 8... and then 18 at incorrect levels... that's another 10s on the clock for McLeod and he's just not finding his groove so far today. 1:08.741 and the Canadian has GOT to tidy it up before tomorrow's Qualifying session. There's a few more chances to get it right but he looks to be making similar mistakes in FP2.
McLeod back into the track for Run 2... overall it's cleaner with just one penalty at Gate 8 this time around leaving Pete with 1:00.616 on the clock
Back in for Run 3, McLeod passing through the Start Gate with an immediate penalty for incorrect level flying but he's managed to keep it otherwise error-free for this last run; that's still +2s on the clock though and a final time of 1:01.444.
McLeod takes through his Run 1 time of 1:00.616 and a 4th place overall so far.
Australian Matt Hall currently blasting his way through the track... that's a spectacular turnaround from this morning's flying session as he grabs 59.202 for Run 1, clean - no errors!
Hall back into the track for Run 2 and once again it's a return to form for the Australian pilot who seems to have found his racing lines early... 58.078 and Hall grabs the top spot from Velarde, still with time to go in for that third run and further improvements in his performance. What's he got left for today's flying session?
A little off the pace there for Run 3... but that's three error-free runs for Hall and all sub-1minute, with 59.080 for Run 3, and a best time of 58.078
Sonka into the track... he's had a best flying time of 59.455 and has already surpassed this morning's time, clocking in at 59.455 on Run 1, including a +2s penalty at Gate 7. Sonka is looking quick and comfortable over the Danube, he may have heard Hall's times so will have a new point of reference in mind as he takes to the track again for Run 2
A great start to Run 2 for Sonka; the splits are in the green but he's elected for a Safety Climb Out (SCO) and looks to be returning to the race airport.
