Austria's Hannes Arch on the hunt now in FP2... a great start at 200kts on the nose as he passes through the Start Gate, and he's 0.128s ahead but the splits have quickly dropped into the red and he's not able to challenge Hall for the top spot... YET.
Arch moves into 4th place overall with his Run 1 time of 58.557 but it's clean and a confident run from the Austrian. He's heading back into the track for Run 2...
Another great start for Arch... he's really pushing hard through that first sector as the split times go green, but the times are dropping off again through Gate 10, 11.... still clean, and still fast through... but not quite in Hall's ballpark just yet.
Arch 59.381 for Run 2... another opportunity to go smoother, and go faster...
Muroya into the track. We've had no indication from the Chiba winner of his speed and performance capabilities in Budapest from FP1, but the FP2 results are looking blistering!
Insufficient smoke and a penalty at Gate 7 for Arch in Run 3... that's added +3s and it's effectively a null and void turn in the track for the Austrian.
He takes 4th place overall so far.
That's smooth and clean run from the Japanese pilot and it looks like his Chiba victory wasn't a one-off... that's 57.711 from Muroya and no penalties, no errors and certainly no holds barred. Under review but it's an official time and Muroya takes a decisive first place in FP2.
Another blistering run from the Japanese pilot for Run 2, with 57.607, he's finding some serious pace out there today!
Ivanoff up next: it's a fair performance from the Frenchman in FP2 today... +2s on the clock for Run 1 with 1:01.825, but two clean runs it just gets better and better for Ivanoff... 59.485 followed up with a 58.331 and a fourth place finish overall so far.
USA's Kirby Chambliss now into the Budapest racetrack... he's been here many times before so it's nothing new for the American pilot... and his experience really shows! Chambliss off the pace a little with that first run thanks to an extra +4s in penalties, but he's refined his lines and it's a clean and super-quick time of 57.362 for Run 2, pushing Muroya off the top of the timesheets!
DNF result for Dolderer's first run as he deviates from the course, Run 2 is a step up from his FP1 times as he goes clean and fast with 58.127 - that's a 4th place finish overall for Dolderer behind Chambliss, Muroya and Hall. A great base line for FP3 tomorrow ahead of Qualifying.
Nigel Lamb scored a 58.509 in FP1, a good solid time for the British pilot, but the pilots have stepped it up in FP2 and Lamb will be looking for another top three result in this flying session after finishing in second overall earlier today.
No improvement for Lamb as he crosses through the Finish Gate with 58.855... but it's another clean and smooth run. Lamb still not able to find any green split times in Run 2 as he pushes through the top end of the racetrack... the splits are showing he's over 1.5s off Chambliss' pace and a penalty at Gate 19 renders his Run 2 time even slower with 1:01.886 in total.
Lamb 58.855 and that's a 9th place finish overall so far in today's FP2 session. That won't sit too well with the former World Champion!
Podlunsek is the last pilot out in today's Free Practice 2 session.... he's had a slightly more cautious run in this second flying session of the day in Run 1, just +2s extra on the clock and finishing with 1:03.089. Run 2 and no improvement for the Slovenian - just getting caught out in the last push to the Finish Gate from Gates 16 and 18... that's an extra +4s added to his time and an overall time of 1:05.708
That concludes today's Free Practice 2 session... Chambliss, Muroya and Hall take the top spots on the timesheets.
Here are the unofficial results from Masters Free Practice 2:
