Podlunsek has yet to put in a clean flight out there and it's no different for this run in the Round of 14... a penalty for Peter at Gate 7 but he's pushing forward regardless... some instability out there with low lines and he's fighting the conditions.... just the one penalty and some significant time lost in that last split.
Chambliss scored a first place finish in Free Practice with a run in the 57s ballpark. Conditions are of course tougher today but Chambliss has been looking really confident and refreshed in Budapest
He says this technical track really suits his flying style, so it's time to test the American and see if he can replicate his free practice success out in the Round of 14
Chambliss into the track and he's just got to keep it smooth and clean... a confident start and lower on the G in the northern end of the track
The splits are looking good with a clear 3.5s margin between Podlunsek and Chambliss so far as he heads into the last section of the Budapest track
A penalty in Gate 18 for incorrect level flying... but he's won his heat comfortably with 1:01.151... it's one of the slower times of the day with that penalty... without he's up there with one of the fastest times of the day
Kopfstein flying first in this final heat of R14... Kopfstein cleared into the track and over the bridge
The wind is gusting at 10 - 25kts... the wind is picking up and Kopfstein will have to work so hard to keep his plane controlled, level and on cue with those racing lines
A great turning manoeuvre from Kopfstein and he's looking clean so far... but at the last minute he's gone through Gate 19 at an angle and he'll pick up +2s. Kopfstein 1:05.046
That's great news for Muroya, who progresses through as fastest loser.
Dolderer the last pilot out on the racetrack in this Round of 14.
The German pilot has had a best result of 4th in the Free Practice session earlier this week. He's managed a 58s time but with Kopfstein's time he could comfortably progress... if he can keep the penalties at bay.
Wind speed currently 9kts at the Margaret Bridge and Dolderer catches a penalty at Gate 6, but the splits are still in the green with his "raw" time fast and a bit aggressive. it's another penalty at Gate 12 and Dolderer has to work hard to scrub off time and really dig in for the last sprint to the Finish Gate... it's a green final split time but under review
+4s in penalties but Dolderer is through with 1:04.763... a lucky push through to the next knock out round and Dolderer knows it!
