Goulian through and it's a clean, first turn in the track and he's hitting that vertical turn manoeuvre... but the call to knock it off comes and Goulian IS OUT! It's a DNF for Goulian and he opens the door for Nigel Lamb, who just has to put in a good run now.
Lamb is cleared into the track... he's through at 198kts and will be using this run to get more experience in the track
Sonka cleared into the track... and he's through with a pacey 198kts
Sonka knows that Arch will be on the hunt and he's putting in an accurate and solid performance, pushing through Gate 4 and looking confident, a fast and capable run here!
That will really put the pressure on Arch now... Podlunsek currently holding the position as the fastest loser so if Arch can't answer Sonka, there's still a chance he could advance as a fastest loser.
Let's see what Arch has in the bag
Arch cleared into the track now and he will know what Sonka has achieved already in the R)14... he's through at a blistering pace of 199kts but the splits are in the red... he's 0.229s behind Sonka
Arch pushing hard and flying aggressively but there's no chasing down Sonka so far.... the splits are still in the red and he's under pressure to put in a really good time... that fastest loser spot could be his saving grace!
The Czech pilot has taken the heat as Arch cannot answer Sonka! Arch 1:05.356
That's quick and he's officially the fastest loser... that's a decent time and the second fastest today to put it in perspective
Hall still coping with a back injury but he'll be looking to right the wrongs of the first two races of the season...
Hall holds the track record currently and he's got the means to go fastest today, he just needs to focus
Hall looking to go better than his FP1 time of 1:04.072 and he's keeping it clean and error free... the times are looking good in the splits and he's quick...
Hall pushing and pushing as he heads for that Finish Gate, no penalties and he's thrown down the gauntlet to Le Vot with an excellent run of 1:05.029
Number 12 Le Vot cleared into the track... Le Vot has to find 2s on his best time here in Chiba to contest Matt Hall
He's through at 197kts and he's already 1.142s behind the splits which remain firmly in the red... it's a tough call for the Frenchman to pull something very special out of the bag
