Ready for the Round of 8 yet?
Here's the start list for the next knock-out heats:
Muroya vs Besenyei
Ivanoff vs Sonka
Lamb vs Hall
Bonhomme vs Arch
In the Round of 14, it was Arch who headed out first in his heat with rival. This time around, it's Brit Bonhomme who'll be setting the bar in Heat 11.
MUROYA V BESENYEI and the Japanese pilot is in the track!
Muroya lays down the first time, setting the bar for Besenyei – it's a 1:06.706 and that is a scorcher! Besenyei will have a tough job to beat that ;)
The Hungarian has his "new baby" the super pumped Edge 540 V3
Yesterday in Qualifying we saw some excellent flying from Besenyei so he's gaining confidence with the new plane
Taking the turn a little higher, but he's tighter than Muroya at gate 6 with the vertical turn
From 7 into the chicane he's tight but we're in the red on the split times
What's he got... it's a 1:07.465 – great effort from Besenyei but not enough to overtake Muroya
MUROYA goes through to the Final 4 in Ascot!
That's the first time he's been in the final in 2015 and it was well earned!
Ivanoff handled the British track well in 2014 and made the podium but Sonka's been steadily rising through the ranks this past year
Ivanoff is setting the pace and he needs to go all out... could be tighter, says Mangold
Home straight and he's consistent out there... 1:08.088 for Ivanoff and unless Sonka messes this up, we think Ivanoff will probably wave goodbye to a repeat of 2014
Sonka's cleared into the track and he's only got to beat 1:08... this should be easy pickings
But we've got red on the first split times and it's not looking great as it's red again – taking it wide and hesitates into the chicane
Sonka is under review and this is not going to cut it... 1:10.114 means Ivanoff goes through!
This is great racing... just when you think it's a done deal ;)
MUROYA AT THE RACE AIRPORT: "My team has been working really hard since Abu Dhabi and we're in good shape now. The engine was really hot in the last few races so we've worked on this too. Final 4 is a big chance and I have some space to go faster... "
LAMB made it through by the skin of his teeth... and he's flying against Matt Hall
So this is the battle of the MXS-Rs and incidentally, the battle of the winglets out there next
Lamb goes first and he needs to make the Final 4 if he is to have any chance to get his title push back on track... if it's not already too late
He's a little high but he's learnt his lesson
The defending World Champion is giving his all to put the pressure on Hall... and that is what we wanted to see! It's a 1:06.993! That is almost 3s faster than any time he's posted this week!
