Ryfa through cleanly and he's looking good and controlled... 1:01.416 - Kopfstein has gone faster in Training though...
Short pause while the Challengers swap planes. The Challengers share Extra 330 LXs on location.
Current conditions in the racetrack:
Air Pressure: 940.7mbar
Wind Speed/Direction: 7kts/NE
Brageot flies a clean run but he isn't finding the best line out there, +0.905 slower than Ryfa and not nearly as quick as he has been this week.
Brageot 1:02.231, currently 2nd place
Kopfstein looking confident and smooth, slower in the first split but he picks it up in the second. He's through the vertical turn and he loses time but he's giving it everything he's got to claw back those seconds... and he does! The final sector goes green and Kopfstein bags the first place with 1:01.208
Another quick break as Kopfstein returns to the airport.
Bolton is into the track, and he's really flying fast! Looking good until he just waivers over the safety line! NOT what Bolton had in mind... it's an automatic DQ result. Better today than tomorrow though.
Berger last out to fly in this Qualifying session for the Challengers. It's his last race of his inaugural year and he's shown signs of great promise.
Berger through the start gate at 198.56kts but his split times are consistently wider as he struggles to maintain pace through the track. He passes through the Finish Gate 2.586 slower than Kopfstein and that's a fifth place finish today for the German pilot. With less gusty conditions to combat today the Challengers have had a chance to refine their lines ahead of the final Challenger Cup race tomorrow, where each and every one of them has a chance to win that first place on the podium.
Unofficial Challengers Qualifying results:
1. Kopfstein 1:01.208
2. Ryfa 1:01.416
3. Brageot 1:02.321
4. Podlunsek 1:02.576
5. Berger 1:093.794
6. Bolton DQ
Bonhomme looking pretty relaxed today. He's always clear that he takes each race round by round. All he's thinking about is his next run.
Entry speed 199.57kts through the Start gate. and he's faster than Training 3! A good start for Mr Le Vt with 51.764. It's a clean run through the Start Gate and faster in that first sector with 0.116. Gate 7 clean but he;s losing pace on his first run. The Run 1 time remains as his best - error free, and penalty free. A good confident performance and something solid to build on.
Le Vot 51.764
Velarde took 9th in Training 3
Training 3 saw him go 50.683. He's looking much more confident out there... but whoops, +2s on the clock for incorrect level flying. It's just about getting his lines sorted now. He's got another run.
Velarde 54.024 on Run 1 with +4s extra... he's needing to tidy it up in those Air Gates
Nice and green in the splits, 0.351 under on the second split
He's shaving off time and he's found an extra second there...
Velarde definitely a rising star of the World Championship. He's getting closer and closer to that podium, it's really only a matter of time.
