It's clean and fast! 1:06.912 was a great run and moves him up to 6th place!
Muroya is out and he's blistering through the track!
With a big G load in the turn it was looking like it could attract attention from the judges... but he gets through with a fantastic 1:05.261 to move up to 2nd place!
He's just +0.089 off Sonka's pace!
Chambliss goes next and we know, as a true veteran of the sport, he knows how to win
It was looking good on the first Q1 run and there's a chance we could see Chambliss on the podium if he can keep his cool
We've seen a marked improvement this year, maybe due to the addition of Paulo Iscold to the Chambliss team as aerdynamicist/race tactician?
It's a solid run... but an incorrect level means it's 1:09.547 with 2s in penalties
And Arch flies into the track now...
We hear the wind has dropped in the track, which could be a big advantage for the remaining 3 pilots
The Austrian is currently in 13th position – pitting him against the 2nd fastest pilot potentially in the Round of 14
It's all red on the splits... that is not good for Arch
Maybe the gremlins are stll hanging around from 2015
He'll have to shake them off if he wants to pick up a decent point haul in Ascot
He gets a personal best here, but still work in progress – it's 1:06.987 and he moves up to 7th place
WOW! Dolderer is back in the track and it's green from the off!
Will he steal that top position from Sonka?!
And that is what champions are made of! Dolderer shows Sonka who's in charge with a new track record and a phenomenal run! It's a 1:05.038!
The wind is now at half the speed it was, says Bonhomme from the commentary box
and this has an impact, although well played by Dolderer nonetheless
Last to fly is Spain's Juan Velarde...
Currently in 4th place – and it's green again! Closely followed by a 2s penalty for incorrect level...
And it's red again on the split... he won't sneak past Dolderer, but it's still a good run
He posts 1:07.061 including 2s for incorrect level at gate 2 – remaining in 4th
Without the penalty, that would have been within a hair's breadth of the top guys
We can be sure that will set the scene for an epic race day!
