That puts Chambliss in 8th position, with fellow US pilot Mike Goulian sitting pretty in 2nd...
And Matt Hall of Australia flies next... after having to retire yesterday from FP2 due to illness...
This race is the most important of his career – he needs to stop Germany's Matthias Dolderer from sewing up the 2016 World Championship here in Indy to keep his own title hope alive
But it's not looking great for the Australian out there... that was red at every split time and it's a disappointing but clean 1:04.917
- Pylon Hit!
Second run for Hall and we wonder if he's really back to full health as that's the buzzer for a pylon hit at gate 5! That's not what we expect from Hall...
And the run is still not up to speed, he's red all the way and it's 1:07.594 including the 3s for the pylon hit...
Two pilots to fly in this FP3 session: Matthias Dolderer and Cristian Bolton
As it stands, here's the top 3:
Is Dolderer going to ruin their day? We expect so!
And Dolderer is out into the track and he needs to really keep his calm if he wants to guarantee the title!
That's not a great start here... it's a Safety Climb Out for Dolderer...
- Pylon Hit!
And that's a string of penalties and a pylon hit!
Dolderer goes again to lay down an improved result and this is more like it! It's green on the split time... but he picks up 2s for incorrect level at gate 7... but even with that, it's 1:03.944!
Dolderer moves into 3rd place behind Goulian with Sonka holding on to the top spot
And it's Cristian Bolton, our new Master Class pilot, who flies last in this session... he had a decent first outing yesterday and moved to ninth in FP2
Bolton gets three runs today...
Chilean pilot Bolton heads into the track and it's 1:06.719 with 1s for insufficient smoke on that first run... luckily that one's easy to remedy!
His second run is a little less convincing... it's an operational violation and climbing at gate 11– it's 3s in total added to his time, which leaves a 1:07.422 on the timesheet...
One more run for Bolton... and that's insufficient smoke again so 1s added... and then we hear Jim DiMatteo, Race Director call a Safety Climb Out as Bolton's allocated track time is up...
That concludes Master Class Free Practice 3 and it's Sonka at the top of the timesheets by almost a second! Full results to follow...
Challenger Class Qualifying on NOW!
And it's Melanie Astles to fly first in this last Challenger Cup Qualifying round before the grand final in Las Vegas in a few weeks...
Astles hasn't settled into the track here all that well and picked up penalties through Free Practice and she's still struggling here in Qualifying... there's 4s added to her run for incorrect level at gate 2 and the finish gate, which leaves 1:20.245 on the clock
Next to fly is Kevin Coleman, fan favourite and strong contender, with podiums to his name in his debut season...
Coleman delivers for the fans and posts a clean 1:17.032 to move ahead of Astles!
Ben Murphy flies next, and told us he's really enjoying the track and was really pleased with yesterday's results... plus he's identified places in the track where he knows he can improve... watch this space!
Fellow Challenger Class pilot Luke Czepiela is also a fan of the track here, adding that it's a combination of the best bits of the Ascot and Spielberg tracks
Kevin Coleman leads at the halfway point of Challenger Class Qualifying, with Ben Murphy now cleared into the track to try to steal that lead...
- Pylon Hit!
Those sector times are not favourable... it's red all the way for Murphy and he also picks up 3s for a pylon hit at gate 11... and that's game over :( Murphy records 1:21.463 to put him in 3rd place and Luke Czepiela left to fly...
Polish pilot Czepiela made a return to the competition this year... and he's in fifth place overall
He's off and it's green! That's looking like a commanding performance for Czepiela and it's clean so far...
Now we're in the red on the split times against Coleman's pace... can he regain that in the final section?!
It's still red... and that's clean and controlled, but only enough for second place and 2.6s behind the American – 1:19.688 for Czepiela
