Bolton needs to really keep a handle on the nerves here as he flies in the Round of 8... and with the knowledge that he's up against the defending World Champion
Goulian: "I was just out there going for it and I stalled at the top of the VTM. The conditions are changing and I made a couple of little corrections but all you can do is do your best. Really happy with our performance and we're on a great trajectory. We were just outside the Final 4 so we're going to take that."
Our first ever pilot to hail from Chile, Cristian Bolton is up next!
Really pushing hard on that VTM and he knows where he needs to make it count in the track if he's going to beat Dolderer out there
But that's not fast enough in our opinion... 55.890 for Bolton
Dolderer is up next and with his notoriously slick Edge 540 V3 he's got the skills and the equipment to make the podium if he can keep his cool out there... we wonder how much pressure he's feeling...
Into the first VTM and he's off the pace! We know Bolton has the first part of the track dialled but Dolderer can easily claw it back
And he's into the green already! This should be easy from here... and he can see that podium!
It's a great run and he's through! 54.469 for Dolderer
Last of the R8 heats... LE VOT V VELARDE
With an offseason spent trying to make his Edge 540 faster, Le Vot is really hoping to kickstart his 2017 campaign on a positive note
He's in the track and the first split looks a little slow, and possibly not where it needs to be to beat Velarde
But we can hear his G scream from the cockpit so he'll be giving this all he's got
He gets the OK, and it's 55.973 for Le Vot, unlikely to beat Velarde unless he makes a mistake here
Velarde managed to fly 3s faster earlier today so let's see if he can do this... and take the final space in the last round of the Abu Dhabi race
And here comes the Spaniard!
Smoke ON! Will Velarde get his first podium here in Abu Dhabi... it's all to play for!
Is he playing it safe here? Not a bad shout if so, but the split time is green and he's comfortable out there ahead of Le Vot's time
Last few gates and this is clean and fast! He's done it with 55.373
