- Pylon Hit!
But that's the buzzer and it's our first pylon hit of the session!
And another call from the tower and it's for an over G and he's given the Safety Climb Out call and it's a DNF recorded on the timesheet and Brageot also forfeits his second run for exceeding the maximum G and a technical inspection
For our Australian fans, Matt Hall is up now :)
Hall was on top form earlier in FP3 and showing confidence in his new Edge 540 V3
Will this be his comeback race?
And he starts as he means to continue with green on the split times, he's not quite as fast as FP3 but this is great flying from Hall!
It's a 57.068 for run 1 for Hall! He moves easily into the top spot and we might even see a faster time now...
It looks like Hall is pushing it here on the second go and possibly trying out something new, but it's not paying off and he's in the red on the split times against his first run
57.661 clean and that's consistent at least for Hall
Just under 190kts for Podlunsek as he enters the Kazan track here for his first run...
- Pylon Hit!
Let's see how the Slovenian will do out here... but there's the buzzer and it's a pylon down at Gate 10!
And it's 1:01.591 for Podlunsek and some more work out there for the airgators...
Back in the track for his second run and hopefully that extra time up in the air has given him a chance to calm those nerves...
This is much better! It's green on the first split time against Hall's time... but it slips back into the red by the second marker
Great work Podlunsek! That's 57.504, just +0.436 behind Hall!
Matt Hall: "I'm pretty happy with the consistency. Gate 7 is the most challenging but with the westerly wind 3 and 4 are a little easier. We're now ready to start pushing and it's been a good weekend for us. We've got the track record under our belt."
France's Nicolas Ivanoff will fly next... this is his 74th race start so he's got the experience to succeed in the more challenging conditions
He's through the start gate but it's game over straight away! He's recorded 202.6kts and that is an automatic DNF
Further info from the Race Tower that there was a data issue and Ivanoff will get both his Qualifying runs...
It's a distraction but hopefully Ivanoff can keep his cool and post a strong run...
195.8kts this time through the start gate and here we go!
It's red on the first split time and then it moves into the green! What a change of fortunes!
