And it's green again... that's great work Ivanoff! Hall will need to keep an eye on this one...
And that's a 56.450 from Ivanoff moving him into the lead!
Now for the second run... he's banked a great first time so there's less pressure now on the Frenchman
And there goes the buzzer for Gate 4 too high and 2s added
58.656 for Ivanoff so that first time will count and he can go back to the Race Airport very satisfied with Qualifying in Kazan
Next pilot is Mike Goulian – another veteran of the sport who is really working hard in 2017 to get back to form and with some impressive steps forward so far
The American is tied on points with Ivanoff on 14 each in the overall standings with 4 races to run
And he starts well with green on that split time but it moves into the red, then green again... Goulian has clearly got a race line that has the potential to be improved and be competitive come race day
That's 56.983 and it moves Goulian ahead of Hall to sit in 2nd place behind Ivanoff
Here comes Goulian for his second run and there's an opportunity to squeeze past the French pilot if he can hold it together while pushing to the limit
That's another great start and straight into the green... but same pattern and it's red again...
56.837 for Goulian's 2nd run and he is absolutely consistent out there over the Kazanka River. He stays in 2nd with half the field left to fly
Spain's Juan Velarde next...
- Pylon Hit!
What a nightmare start for the Spaniard! It's a pylon hit at Gate 3 and he picks up 3s...
This run is a write off... and he just needs to get through ready to go for it in his second go
1:03.224 for Velarde with 5s after picking up another 2s for incorrect level at Gate 10
And Velarde gets a chance to remedy his first run mishap... he's back in the track and this is looking good, it's green against Ivanoff's time at the first split time!
But he loses time by the second one and just can't keep the pace... it's red and red again, but it's clean and that's the way to play it
Defending World Champion Matthias Dolderer will fly next and this really is the race where he needs to win if he wants to keep the title
- Pylon Hit!
And there's a pylon hit! This is bad news...
The German is struggling to regain his previous form this year and he will have to wait for his second run after pylon repairs to see if he can inch past Ivanoff with a clean run
1:00.552 for Dolderer, which is only enough for 6th place at this stage. He'll go again in a few minutes...
Mike Goulian: "I just wanted to duplicate what I did yesterday. I wanted to hear my name in first place and I thought I did it. Sometimes the airplane feels fast but it just isn't."
Dolderer will make his way back now into the track... 194kts through the start gate
