And straight away he's in the green! This is great work!
But there's the buzzer and it's incorrect level at 10 and then 11! That's ruined that run and it's a 55.332 for Velarde's first Qualifying run
He needs to keep his cool on the second lap and keep that pace if he wants to move up the table for this session
Spanish fans will be happy to see Velarde holding it together much better this time... and he's green again!
All the way it's looking good and he rectifies those penalties from Q1
It's a 51.446 for Velarde and he moves ahead of Ivanoff to sit at the top of the timesheet
First of our American pilots flying now... it's Goulian
8th in the overall standings on 24 points, Goulian could be a spoiler this weekend if he brings his A Game
He's red at the first split but seems to have the first VTM really dialled in
He moves into the green but then it's back to red... and that's a penalty for flying too low at Gate 12! It's a 53.146 for Goulian's Q1
Without that penalty he'd be in 1st place so let's see if he can smooth that out...
Goulian shows the same pattern on his Q2 – red, green, red... but he's done it! It's a 51.118 and he glides into pole
Birthday boy Matt Hall flies now... and as the winner here in 2016 there are high hopes
After a podium in Porto, Hall is in a good place and ready to return to form
Here he goes! This is great flying from Hall
He's easily in the green! After a 5th place in FP3 it's going to be tough out there but this is a strong performance
It's green all the way for Hall's Q1 and he lays down a 50.623!
Second run for Hall and as Bonhomme says on the commentary, he's in a great position knowing he's not fighting for the title and is here just to win a race
And it's looking like that prophecy may well come true this weekend! It's a blinder as he shaves off more time in his Q2 and it's a 50.227! Hall moves into 1st place ahead of Goulian
Home hero Matthias Dolderer flies next and the German crowd has already been wild this morning giving their pilot plenty of support!
Down in 6th place overall, Dolderer looks to lose his title this year but there's no doubt he could get in the mix for a podium spot this weekend
6th also in FP3 earlier today...
