Colman and Czepiela have now completed their Qualifying runs...
Czepiela looking smooth out there... still not able to really challenge Ryfa as the Polish pilot sits in second place 0.283x behind the current leader.
Colman looking less attacking than usual, as he slides into 5th place overall
Short interval and just one more pilot to fly - another newcomer to the Challenger Class, Patrick Davidson of South Africa.
Current Challenger Class Qualifying results look like this, with one pilot to fly:
Ryfa - 58.293
Czepiela - 58.576
Berger - 58.650
Genevey - 59.716
Coleman - 59.826
Costa - 1:00.753
Predictions for Davidson?
Well that's the last run complete - Davidson through and penalty free, clocking in a time of 1:01.360, placing him in 7th overall
That's a wrap for Challenger Class Qualifying for today. Next up: Master Class Qualifying, 16:00 local time!
Current track conditions looking fair but a bit blustery from the west at the moment:
Max wind speed: 18 kts
Air Pressure: 1016.2 mbar
Just under an hour to go before Masters Qualifying kicks off.
Quick look at results from practice sessions...
FP1 fastest - Dolderer
FP2 fastest - Goulian
FP3 fastest - McLeod
Only Goulian has really been consistently placing near the top during free practice sessions, as for the other pilots... it's been a bit of a mixed bag as they get to grips with their new setups for the season.
So! Quick recap on the last free practice flying session.
Heres's what you need to know:
Pete McLeod fastest, followed by Mike Goulian and Matt Hall.
Just 0.004 between McLeod and Goulian's top FP3 times.
Last year's World Champion Yoshi Muroya came in fourth fastest.
Here's a quick reminder about the Abu Dhabi track set up:
- 15 gates, flown in two laps
- New setup from that of 2017
- Watch Gate 7 - this is a key point in the track where penalty for over-G could be picked up.
- Trajectory from Gate 4 to Gate 7 is fairly straight and pilots will need to focus on their acceleration here
Just 25 minutes to go until Masters Qualifying heats up.
NEW to the Master Class this year...
Ben Murphy, moving up from the Challenger Class and racing under the Blades Racing Team from Great Britain.
And here we go!!! Masters Qualifying IS ON!!!!
Commentators are Nick Fellows and former World Champion Paul Bonhomme!
Murphy set to make his Master Class Qualifying debut!
The Blades Racing Team pilot is into the track, first lap looking focused out there, a solid first run
