And Luke Czepiela kicks off the second half of the Challenger Cup today in Kazan... here we go!!!
Czepiela into the track at 180kts... he's 0/067 faster than Coleman in the first split but he's quickly on the back foot as he picks up +2s at Gate 3 with an incorrect level flying penalty. If he wants a podium place he's got to work really hard and just make the rest of his flight super fast and perfect.
But Czepiela hasn't managed to make the cut as he clocks in 0.4s slower than Costa, landing the Polish pilot in 4th overall so far.
France's Melanie Astles into the track for her final flight in Kazan...
Into the track just off the pace at 177kts, and she's through those trickcky Gates 3 and 4... all clean and precise and she's looking nice and concise right now.... she's working hard and the pace is now 0.5s off Coleman's pace... she's losing pace as she progresses through the track, and Astles sprints to the Finish Gate but she can't match Coleman
Only Patrick Davidson left... can he unseat Coleman from the top spot on the timesheets?
Davidson into the track but his pace is slow... he looks to be building speed though as the first splits are in and they're GREEN... he's just 0.008 ahead of Coleman
Great lines and he's looking calm but there needs to be a little more aggression from the South African
Second splits are in and he's 0.3s off the pace... he's wavered in his racing lines and he's got some work to do, no penalties so far but the win is slipping away... the splits stay in the red and Coleman has taken the race win!
Davidson will have to settle for 2nd place, but a great race all round for the Challenger
The Masters' Race Day kicks off at 10:00 UTC/13:00 local time... we will be back shortly to bring you all the racing action live from Kazan!
Master Class Race Day coming to you live from Kazan... are you ready?!
Ivanoff first out into the racetrack. The French pilot placed 10th in Qualifying yesterday, but has a knack of pulling out a great result in these really fast tracks. Does he have the power to beat Muroya in this head-to-head? Or will the defending World Champion Muroya make it through to the Round of 8?
Ivanoff kicks of the Round of 14 with a 197kts entry into the Start Gate... he's looking good and he won't be battling any unpredictable breezes there... conditions are pretty much perfect and he'll be looking to clock in around 53s to match Muroya's Qualifying time. It's a great start from Ivanoff and he'll be pleased with that performance as he flies cleanly. Just a waiting game for the French pilot now.
Muroya has one chance to get it right. And here he goes...
Muroya on the nose at 200kts through the Start Gate... he's 0.088s ahead as the first split times go in. The Japanese pilot is picking up pace now and he's gained almost a second on Ivanoff as he heads into the second half of the track... it's a quick and very precise show from Muroya and he's through to the Round of 8. The times are looking quick out there for sure, so it's all about SPEED and keeping it penalty-free!
Petr Kopfstein struggled in Qualifying yesterday, finishing up in 11th. He's managed a best place of 9th this weekend with a time in the 53s, but he needs to be really fast as Murphy was showing some blistering split times yesterday, despite his penalty
Kopfstein looking comfortable and he's found his lines... much more relaxed than yesterday and finding some pace now... he's in the right ballpark as he goes cleanly through!
The pilots are really pushing the pace out there today. The track is fast and so far no pilots have made any errors in the track. Murphy picked up a penalty yesterday so he'll be trying to keep it cool, calm and collected.
Brageot has a really tough heat ahead...Hall has set the track record in Kazan this year but Brageot is a rising star who could rise to the challenge
