Muroya, Murphy, Hall, Sonka, Chambliss, Goulian and Le Vot progress, with Velarde joining them as the Fastest Loser
Masters' Round of 8 will be back at 12:00UTC/15:00 local time!
Can Kirby Chambliss reply? No fastest losers in this round. It's go fast or go home.
Chambliss racing through the Start Gate at 197kts.... a smooth line and the same lines that he flew in the R14... the first splits are in and he's off Muroya's pace by 0.176s... a little quicker than Muroya in places but the net times are not matching Muroya... Chambliss has a tough challenge here and he just cannot get the power and pace out of his raceplane. A great performance but Muroya is flying possibly better than he has all season.
Le Vot had a blistering R14 performance, knocking out Dolderer in a shock result. Can he make it another shock result here in the R8? He's looking fast again.... smooth and clean, a familiar roar from the cockpit as he pushes through the VTM... lots of pace there. Consistent performance this weekend from Le Vot and that could be the start of a better set of results in the second half of the season. Will it be enough to keep Goulian at bay?
Goulian through the Start Gate at 199kts... he fast and determined and focused out there. He knows what the goal is and it's clear the American is responding. 0.155s faster in the first split... he's picking up pace and the margin is widening as the second split times are green too as he puts over half a second between his raceplane and Le Vot's
Goulian has a great rhythm and such a relaxed but precise run, the perfect balance but a short wait as his flight is under review
And he's through... no penalties!
Technical Infraction coming up for Muroya at Gate 8 for Over RPM, earning him a DQ result. That's terrible news for the Japanese pilot, but it means Chambliss has progressed into the Final 4 with another shot at the podium.
